Every bar begins as a plant-derived glycerin base, melted and poured by hand here in Australia. Clear, not opaque — which is the whole reason the colour behaves the way it does.
The colour
Light is the ingredient you can't list.
Because the block is transparent, the colour is never flat. It deepens where the bar is thickest, throws a coloured shadow on the shelf, and changes through the day. That is why each bar is photographed on its own colour — the field it sits on is the colour it makes.
Fruit, oils, shimmer
Three things go in, in order.
First the colour. Then real dried fruit fibre — blood orange, finger lime, lychee, mango or watermelon — which is what you can see caught inside. Then the shimmer, timed so it sets suspended through the middle of the block rather than sinking to the bottom.
The fruit gives the bar its flecks and part of its colour. The scent is separate, and it comes only from essential oils. And the shimmer is gold-tone cosmetic mica — not gold — it is there to catch the light.
In use
A soft, low lather.
Glycerin bars lather gently rather than foaming up hard, and the base is SLS/SLES-free. Glycerin also draws in water, so the bar keeps its edges best on a dish that drains instead of in a puddle.
The boxes
Numbered one to five.
Each bar has a matte box in its own colour, printed with its name and its number in the range of five. It means a single bar still looks like something you meant to give.
